Year 11 Coordinator
The first full year of VCE or VCAL can be one of confusion, yet it is also a time of great excitement and anticipation. One of the first challenges facing Year 11 students and parents is the mind-boggling array of acronyms; VET, VCAL, VCE, VCAA, SAC, SAT, ENTER, SBNA are only a small sample. Often students feel as if they have entered another realm and thus one of our most significant roles is to walk with them as they grapple with the demands of their VCE or VCAL course.
Being a 15, 16 or even 17 year old male in contemporary Australia can at times be difficult. Relationships with peers, teachers and parents all undergo change; we spend time helping our students negotiate this change effectively. Indeed many of the special activities throughout the year focus on this.
We strive to ensure that each and every student feels safe to take risks, is secure in the knowledge that they belong to a community that has care and respect for them and that they are challenged to perform to their potential. We prepare students for the academic rigour of Year 12 VCE programs; we prepare them to walk into their place of employment for their school-based apprenticeship.
Year 11 is about preparation for change and celebration of now.
