Student Welfare

At De La Salle, the welfare of each student is of the utmost importance. The College aims to provide an environment in which students are encouraged to reach their full potential and where students, staff and parents experience an atmosphere of mutual respect, cooperation and support.

Student welfare is the responsibility of all members of the College community, but the responsibility for leadership in this area is one of the primary functions of the Director of Student Welfare.  The Director of Student Welfare works closely with the Deputy Principal, Heads of Campus, Year Level Coordinators, Homeroom Teachers and School Counselors to ensure that each student is provided with a caring, happy and safe environment in which to learn.

The College’s concern for the welfare of its students is reflected in the appointment of both a Psychologist and a Student Counselor, who are readily available to students on each Campus. Counseling is confidential and is offered free of charge to all students and their parents. Support can be provided through individual or family counseling, psychological and educational assessments, consultancy and advice to teachers and parents on a broad range of issues relating to child and adolescent development and referral to external agencies if required.
