
Primary
The Primary Department at De La Salle College is comprised of three classes, one class each of Years 4, 5 and 6. The Primary Department operates in a similar fashion to a Parish Primary School having a broad-based curriculum with subjects and content relevant to each student’s stage of development.
The Primary classes are able to utilise the facilities of the secondary school and its specialist teachers, thus enhancing their curriculum. In addition to a core curriculum, specialist teachers teach all Primary students Italian, French, Drama, Art, Music, Library, Band and Physical Education.
Each class has shared computer facilities as well as weekly access to the main computer laboratories that are equipped with individual computers connected to the network.
All primary students have the opportunity to be supported by staff in the Mary MacKillop Enhancement Centre.
All Primary students learn a musical instrument and all Year 5 and 6 students are part of an Ensemble.
An extensive sports program with all major sports catered for, with the emphasis being on participation and enjoyment. Every child who wants to play can do so, irrespective of his ability.
Students participate in inter-school sports and Lightning Premiership Netball, Soccer, Softball and Football days. Â Opportunities exist for students to compete at Zone, State and National championships in athletics.
All primary classes attend a camp as part of their Outdoor Education Program.
