Please note that the Application for Enrolment does not itself constitute an offer of a place.
As a Catholic College, with a strong tradition, drawing widely from all parts of Melbourne, De La Salle gives priority to Catholic applicants. The College is normally able to accept all Catholic applicants for Year 7 who apply not later than February in the year preceding entry. When places are available, nonetheless, the College does accept non-Catholic families who desire a strong values-based education for their son in the Christian tradition. Once accepted, all boys are treated equally within the College and all boys, whether Catholic or otherwise, are expected to participate in the Religious Education programme of the College.
In determining successful applicants, first priority is given to the brothers of boys who are already attending the College - based on a principle of equal opportunity within a family. The second group accepted are the sons of former students. Applications for boys with some other family connection to the College, and for boys attending another Catholic school, either secondary or primary, are the next groups accepted.
When there is no other determining factor, applicants are considered in order of receipt of the application. Hence we suggest that families apply to enrol their son as early as possible. It is not until the year prior to entry that parents are required to commit themselves to the enrolment.
Late entries can only be accommodated when there are places available.
The College normally limits enrolment to 208 students at each year secondary level who are organised into eight home room groups. The College also enrolls one primary calss in each of Years 4, 5and 6.
